Fire Patties

Fire Patties with Cauliflower-Carrot Mash

Here’s a great one for a warm summer night when you just have to use that grill.  Oh and don’t worry about the title, if you don’t like it hot, just leave out the spicy ingredients.  The side for this dish was actually a mistake in the kitchen believe it or not.  In my attempt to make cauliflower patties for the first time, I failed to add the eggs to my recipe and realized my mistake when the patties wouldn’t bind during the cook.  So, they ended up as a mash.  But DAMN were they good.  So, I’m going to share them with you here!

Ingredients:

Fire Patties (makes 2-3 patties)

1 lb Ground Beef (Grass Fed is preferred)
1/2 White Onion (chopped small)
1 Egg
1 fresh Jalepeno (chopped small)
2 cloves of Garlic (minced)
Sea Salt/Pepper to taste
Splash of liquid smoke
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper (It’s hot)

In a large bowl, mix the Ground Beef with the egg, onion, jalepeno, garlic and seasonings.  Mix the meat until all ingredients are evenly distributed.  Then form patties into your desired size.  Place them on your barbecue and cook to about 150F to 160F depending on how rare or done you like your burger.

Cauliflower-Carrot Mash:

1 large head of cauliflower
1 Carrot (grated)
2 Eggs
1/4 cup of fresh Parsely (chopped fine)
1/4 cup of ground flax (flaxseed meal)
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
Pinch of Paprika
Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

Cut the cauliflower into small florets.  Place all ingredients into a food processor and pulse until the mixture has particles about the size of rice kernels.  Pour the mixture into a hot skillet with some coconut oil or ghee and cook well until the mixture is soft.  It will have a texture between rice and mashed potatoes.  Serve with your fire patty and some sliced avocado.  If you’re really brave add a sliced red jalepeno to the top of the burger!
